Parzenica
3D-printed bag

Parzenica.
Parzenica is a 3D-printed bag inspired by one of the most recognisable motifs of Podhale ornamentation.
The starting point was the parzenica motif found in traditional highlander dress — its symmetry, rhythm and distinctive arrangement of lines.
The motif was rescaled and transformed to become the central element of the entire form.
The black-and-white layered front forms a spatial relief. Its appearance changes with light, movement and viewing angle, making the surface feel dynamic and multidimensional.
The circular shape balances the elaborate ornamental composition and gives the bag a strong, recognisable silhouette.

The design process translated a traditional pattern into the language of contemporary design and 3D printing.
Parzenica was not reproduced literally. Its elements were simplified, enlarged and arranged into a new composition. The ornament is not merely decoration — it builds the front of the bag and the character of the entire object.
The contrast of black and white emphasises successive layers of the pattern, while 3D printing transforms a flat ornament into a spatial structure.
Parzenica combines local heritage with contemporary technology. It shows how a traditional motif can gain a new scale, function and materiality.

#3Dbags is a series of objects in which I transform familiar motifs, structures and ornaments, giving them spatial form through 3D-printing technology.
I am interested in combining decoration with structure and in seeking new forms for motifs rooted in culture. Each bag is a distinct object, yet together they tell a story showing the possibilities of contemporary design and 3D printing.
